Know the Library Staff

The Music Library has six full-time staff members. All of them act as supervisors and people of resource that can answer any questions.

Holling Smith-Borne, Director of the Music Library, M.I.L.S.

Holling Smith-Borne has been the Director of the Anne Potter Wilson Music Library since 2006. Previously, he was the Coordinator of the music library at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana (1997-2006), and the Music and Fine Arts Librarian at Butler University in Indianapolis from 1992-1997. He holds a B.M. in piano performance from Bowling Green State University, and a M.I.L.S. from the University of Michigan with a specialization in music librarianship. Holling is active in the Music Library Association, and he has recently completed a term as Member-At-Large on the Board of Directors and as Chair of the Education Committee. In previous years, he chaired the Social Responsibilities Roundtable and was a member of the Electronic Reference Services Subcommittee. He is also active in the Music OCLC Users Group, where he recently served as the Treasurer and is part of the Southeast Music Library Association chapter. In his spare time, he enjoys working as a free-lance accompanist primarily working with vocalists and choirs.

Kate Linton, Music Librarian for Education and Outreach, M.M., M.S.I.S.

Kate Linton is the Music Librarian for Instruction and Outreach at the Wilson Music Library. She is responsible for teaching all information literacy instruction sessions for Blair courses and assisting faculty, students, and staff with their research needs. What is information literacy? It's seeking, discovering, evaluating, and using information to communicate and create to meet your personal needs. Kate also coordinates and provides outreach to students in the Blair Academy, Blair Students, and the community. She curates exhibits for Ingram Hall and the Music Library. Kate has a B.M. from West Virginia University ('15) and a M.M. from University of Tennessee Knoxville in voice ('19). She then got a M.S.I.S from UTK ('22). She keeps work-life balance by continuing to pursue performance engagements and staying active by walking, hiking, and playing tennis!

Jacob Schaub, Music Librarian/Cataloger, M.L.I.S.

Jacob Schaub is the Music Cataloger at the Anne Potter Wilson Music Library. He is responsible for the cataloging, subject analysis, classification, and authority work for all music materials, as well as contributing to digital initiatives such as the Global Music Archive. He also participates in library-wide committees such as the Metadata Committee, the VU Institutional Repository Project Team, and the Primo Development Project Team. Jacob holds a B.A. in Geography and Earth Resources and a B.M. with an emphasis in Music History from Utah State University. He also holds an M.L.I.S. with a specialization in cataloging from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio.

Michael Jones, Circulation Coordinator, B.M.

Michael Jones is the Circulation Coordinator for the Anne Potter Wilson Music Library. He is responsible for coordinating circulation and access services, course reserves, and bills and fines. Michael is the primary supervisor for all student employees, and he provides reference assistance to library patrons during the afternoon and evening hours. Michael holds a B.A. in music (double bass) from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg and plans to pursue a M.L.S. degree in the future.

Robert Rich, Reference Assistant, M.M.

Robert Rich is a Reference Assistant at the Anne Potter Wilson Music Library. In addition to providing reference services, he processes interlibrary loan requests, maintains the current periodicals, prepares materials for the bindery, orders office supplies, purchases acquisitions and acts in various administrative assistant roles. Robert serves on the Research Services Committee and is one of the Jean and Alexander Heard Library’s representatives on the University Staff Advisory Council. Robert earned a B.M. in piano performance with highest honors from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 1981. Further, he received a M.M. in piano accompanying and vocal coaching from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey, in 1988.

Meagan Prewitt, Weekend/Evening Supervisor, M.M.

Meagan Prewitt is the Weekend and Evening Supervisor for the Anne Potter Wilson Music Library. She is responsible for circulation of the library during these times as well as providing collection development support for the library, primarily in acquiring digital scores. She is also an assistant student employee supervisor and provides assistance to special projects in the library. Meagan is a graduate of Vanderbilt, with a B.M. in Oboe performance from Blair, and also holds a M.M. in Oboe Performance from the Eastman School of Music.
