Music Library Staff Guide: Printing

Printing in the Music Library

Copy and Print Machines: The Music Library has two copy/print machines, located in the copy room down the hall from the reference and circulation desk. Users can swipe or tap their Vanderbilt ID in the card reader to make copies/print.

  • If there are problems with the machine, get a member of the library staff. He or she will know how to solve most problems.
  • Paper for the machine is kept in the lower cabinets of the copy room.
  • To print, users can send a document to CampusPrint and log in to the system with their VU Net ID and password. They can then swipe into a machine to release their document.

Common questions you may be able to help users with:

  • Why isn't my music printing correctly?
    • Make sure the user downloads the music (or any document) before printing. If they try to print directly from a website, such as IMSLP, they will often times run into errors.
  • Where is the pop-up to login with my VUNetID to print?
    • Make sure the user has enabled editing on their document. If they are in view only mode, they will not be able to print.
    • Make sure that the user chooses the printer that has "Popup" included in the name. This is usually the issue on the public computers and is not the default printer, so you may have to select the correct printer.
  • I don't have a Commodore Card, how can I print?
    • Users can purchase a reloadable guest card at the card machine in the copy room. There is a one-time cost of $1 for the card itself and you must have exact cash. The card has no value. Users must add funds to the card by swiping at the kiosk and inserting the desired amount of cash.
  • How much does it cost?
    • Photocopying and printing cost $.6 per b/w page or $.25 per color page for standard 8.5''x11'' paper. For 11''x17'' paper, the cost is $.12 per b/w page or $.50 per color page.
  • Can I scan to myself?
    • Yes, the photocopier can scan to either an email or to a flash drive. You need to have at least $.5 on your Commodore Card to be able to scan!
