Music Library Staff Guide: Hours and Pay

How Many Hours Can I Work?

The number of hours that student employees are scheduled for will depend upon their availability and the number of work hours that the library has available. However, there are work limits set by the university.

Undergraduate and all International students can work no more than 19 hours per week, inclusive of all campus positions, when classes are in session. Graduate/Professional students can work no more than 29.5 hours per week. During holiday and summer breaks, students not enrolled in classes may work up to 40 hours per week.

Breaks: When you work a four-hour shift, you may take a fifteen-minute paid break. If you work six hours or more, you must take an unpaid thirty-minute break. You can’t skip this break and leave a half hour early or come in a half hour late. University rules and state employment laws require you to take this break during your shift.

Getting Paid

In order to be paid, you must submit a time card. This is done through Kronos. Detailed instructions for submitting time cards are available here.

You must submit your time card every other Friday, and you will get paid the following Friday after you submit your time card, so you will receive a paycheck bi-weekly.

Go to the Time Card tab to get directly to Oracle Cloud to submit your time card!
