Copying, Printing, and Scanning can be done at any of the Campus Libraries.

  • Will need a VUNet ID or a VUprint Visitor Card to print, copy, scan
  • VUprint Visitor Card can be purchased at Value Port Kiosks in the Central, Law, Medical and Music Libraries.
    • Public Printing is not available at the Management Library.
  • The VUprint Visitor Cards cost $1 to purchase and have no value.
    • You must add funds to the card by swiping at the kiosk and inserting the desired amount of cash.
    • Unused funds will be removed after 2 years of inactivity
       

​VUPrint is Vanderbilt's pay-to-print Service.

  • Black and white print jobs on 8 ½” x 11” paper is  $.06 per page.
  • Color print jobs on 8 ½” x 11” paper is $.25 per page.
  • Where available, printing on 11”x17” paper is charged at twice the rate per page.

Either open the top of the scanner and place the item you wish to scan face down on the glass, or use the automated feeder if provided.

If you are scanning pages from a book, you can place your fist in the rear corner and close the lid to make the top pop up to protect the binding:

Swipe your card or log in with your VUNet ID:

After signing in, the system should inform you of your standing balance:

Tap 'OK' and then choose Main Menu: 

Select 'Copy' to make paper copies, 'Scan and Send' to Scan to E-mail, and 'Scan and Store' to save to USB. For more details on scanning, see the separate box below. Continue for directions on copying:

If you are wanting to make color copies, make sure you select the appropriate setting and choose whichever copy ratio works (this can take some experimentation to get right):

Hit the Green Start button on the Control Panel to make your copy:

To print from the public workstations

Choose the Correct Printer (both of these will work)

-CampusPrint_Global 

-Library_Public

 

 In Word:

 

 

In Chrome on the public workstations:

 

 

Next, choose Printer Properties or Preferences to print in black/white or color.

In Word:

 

In Chrome on the Public Workstations:

 

Select the color option you need. Choose Auto if your print job consists of mixed B&W and Color pages to save money:

 

Once your Preferences have been set, choose to Print.

If you have logged in to the machine with your VUNet ID and selected the Global_Secure printer, then it should go straight to the multifunction machine where you can release it by swiping your ID.

If you chose the Public_Canons printer, you will be prompted to enter your Username or Logon ID. This will be your VUNet ID if you have money on your Commodore Card Account, or the code beginning with 'zzz' that appears on VUprint Visitor Cards:

 

When prompted for your password, enter your VUNet password if using your Commodore Card account or nothing if using a Visitor Card.

If you have entered your information correctly, you will be prompted to confirm the print job and charges:

 

Once you click 'Yes' your job has been sent.

  • You can go to the nearest multifunction and swipe to log in.

  • Use your Commodore Card if you used your VUNet ID

  • or Visitor Card with the 'zzz' number you used to send the job to log in

  • Once you have logged in, your current balance should appear on the touchscreen

Tap 'Ok' and the touch screen should display your jobs waiting to be printed.

  • If you have one job or know you want to print all the jobs, choose 'Print All.' y

  • You can also choose individual items to print by tapping on them with your finger and either delete the job or print individual jobs.

  • You are not charged until you actually print the item.

  • There are no charges for deleting print jobs at this stage:

It is free to scan to USB, but you do have to have a minimum balance on your account in order to log in. First, insert your USB stick into the USB port. The USB port should be located to the right of the control panel:

Insert the USB Drive into the USB port. If the USB Stick is recognized the following will appear a the bottom of the touchscreen:

Remember whenever you're ready to remove teh drive to tap the eject button in the lower-right corner before removing the usb stick!

Next, swipe your ID and choose Main Menu, then choose Scan and Store:

 Next, choose 'Memory Media':

Your USB stick should appear on the list of available media. Select it and it should show a list of files on your USB stick. Click 'Scan' to begin scanning pages:

Choose a File Name by tapping on the field to the right of where it says 'File Name' and entering a name with the touch pad. If you do not choose a file name, it will assign a 14 digit random number as the file name.

Hit the green Start button to scan each page. When you have scanned your pages, choose 'Start Storing' to save the scanned images to your USB Stick:

Once you have saved your scans and you are ready to remove your USB stick, hit the 'Eject' button in the lower-right hand corner to safely remove the stick: 

Tap 'Remove' to safely remove the device.

If the Multipurpose Printer is displaying a red error light in the lower-right hand corner of the control panel, it means it will not continue printing jobs in the queue until the error is resolved:

Tap on the 'Status Monitor' button on the lower-left hand corner of the touchscreen and a screen should pop up showing the problem in more detail:

A common problem is a print job sent to the machine with a paper size that is not supported. You can force it to print on the available paper to clear the error. For jams, follow the onscreen commands to clear the jam. If you are still unable to clear the error, alert a supervisor.
