Reading Library Catalog Records

Once you've completed a search, you need to know how to interpret your results. This portion of the module explains the different parts of an Library Catalog record.

Item Status

Here is a list of different item statuses in Library Catalog. They provide information on the location of the item.
 

Annex [Offsite storage] Request: A patron physical item request to retrieve that item from offsite storage

Billed: See Lost

Checked out: See On Loan

Charged: See On Loan

Hold: See Physical Item Request

In Process: In an Alma Work Order.  See Work Order

In Transit: En route from one library or department to another library or department

Lost: Item was considered Lost because that item was severely overdue.  Lost items have been billed.

Missing: Status designating that 1) The item is missing from the shelves; or, 2) The item has been considered Lost for more than 120 days.  See also Lost

On Loan: Borrowed by a library user

Physical Item Requests: Requests to place an item on hold once available.  Requests may trigger accelerated physical processing (see Work Order) or shortened due dates

Work Order: A process (other than Missing and Lost) that temporarily removes a physical item from availability to users.  Work orders can be placed to purchase, receive, bind, repair or label physical items.  In the catalog, an indication as to the nature of the processing being done to the item is listed as “In Process of”.  Items in Work Orders can be requested in our catalog.
