One of the more popular items checked out at the Service Desk are Laptops and MacBooks. You can check laptop availability by following the Technology link on the left side-bar of the library web site and clicking on Laptop Availability.
Laptops/Macbooks can be checked out by Students, Faculty, and Staff only! ONLY ONE LAPTOP OR MACBOOK PER PATRON.
Procedures
In Alma, go to Fulfillment-> Manage Patron Services
Tap the patron's ID.
Pick up a laptop and charger from the charging cabinet, and put the laptop in the bag that matches the laptop's number.
Check for the pieces listed at checkout. The pieces count should be three:
Please be sure all pieces are accounted for before checking out the laptop. If any pieces are missing, DO NOT CHECK OUT THE LAPTOP! Also be sure that the laptop you check out has matching numbers for the power supply, bag, and on the laptop (ie, Laptop #1 is paired with power adapter #1 and bag #1). If there are any discrepancies give it to a supervisor to investigate further.
The loan period should be 3 Days. Inform the patron of the due date/time verbally.
To check in a laptop/MacBook, first confirm that the laptop or MacBook turns on with no issues and shows no damage. Also be sure that all pieces are accounted for (3 pieces). If you notice any damages or the patron has lost a piece, notify a supervisor immediately.
If all the pieces are there, check in the laptop/MacBook by scanning the barcode in the Alma Return Items page.
Be sure to shut down the laptop/MacBook before plugging into the charging dock or power strip.
Return the bag to the appropriately numbered hook.
