Aviary

Public Access to Aviary

Public Access

Aviary (https://aviary.library.vanderbilt.edu) is available to the public to view and search.  Content that is made public by Aviary publishers is accessible to all users.  Restricted contents maybe accessible to specific network (based on IP ranges, eg. on campus), users authenticated with SSO (eg. Vanderbilt staff, faculty, and students), or users with specific emails within specific period.

Staff Access

Staff who need to load resources and/or edit/add metadata need to request access from LTDS via INFORM.

Staff who upload and manage resources in Aviary, will be given the “Organization user” role using their campus VUnetID. As staff responsibility increases, they may be upgraded to “Organization admin” to manage user and access requests, manage integrations, and collection profiles.

LTDS support personnel and the Aviary project owner are assigned as Organization Owners.

Student employees will be assigned to a user group that only allows access to specific collections and grants edit access only. The workflow for managing student employee access is still being developed.

See the next section for detailed information on Aviary roles.
