Princeton University Stata Tutorial
Among the most widely referenced web resources, this concise tutorial begins with an excellent introduction to Stata and then reviews data management, data visualization, and programming approaches. The programming discussion, which concerns macros, looping, and user-designed commands, is particularly well developed.
The guide is also available for download in PDF format. This may benefit users who seek to reduce screen clutter by referencing an offline resource.
Its author, Germán Rodríguez, worked for 32 years at Princeton's Office of Population Research. Prior to joining the OPR, Rodriguez earned a PhD in Biostatistics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While Princeton granted him emeritus status in 2019, Rodríguez continues to maintain this Stata tutorial on his personal home page.
It should be noted that Rodríguez designed the tutorial around Stata 16, which is one generation behind the current version. Nonetheless, the vast majority of its instruction carries over and remains relevant to Stata 17.
