Course Reading List Tool

Accessing Your Reading List

  • To access the reading list once it has been added to Brightspace, simply go to the Course Readings module under Contents. 
  • Select the link titled "Course Reading List."
  • If there are issues accessing the Course Reading List Tool please contact your library reserve staff member.

Old Links from SIPX

  • The old links that were previously used to access readings through SIPX no longer work.
  • Links will rollover in Brightspace, if they are not removed.
  • It is the faculty or their TA's responsibility to remove these links from Brightspace.
  • The below image shows what the error message that will occur if a SIPX link is selected.

Importing Reading List to Zotero

To move your reading list into Zotero will take a few steps.

  1. Click on the Course Reading List Tool (CRLT) link in Brightspace
  2. Once in the CRLT click on the settings menu (your name) located in the top right hand corner
  3. Select User Settings
  4. Fill out the information needed to connect to Zotero (User name, API Key)
  5. Save
  6. Now go to the Reading List Options (three ellipses) located under the course title on the left portion of the screen
  7. Select Export
  8. Select To EndNote
  9. A pop-up will appear with Zotero Connector, which verifies you would like to import the list to Zotero
  10. Click Ok
  11. The reading list should now be in Zotero

Add Citations with a Citation Manager

  • To set the connection to the Citation Manager, click on the user menu, and select User Settings.
  • You’ll see the configuration tabs for compatible citation managers, Zotero, and Mendeley.

  • To add the items from one of these Citation Managers to your reading list, simply click on the + icon from within the reading list, and open the More tab.
  • You will see the names of the available Citation Managers.
  • You can now simply drag and drop to add the desired citation to the reading list.

Setting up a list

  • If you would like to create another reading list for while in the Course Reading List tool select the Back button. This will bring you to My Lists. Which is a collection of all reading lists you have created in the Course Reading List tool.

Creating a list

  • To create a new list, click + New List in the top right.
  • If you don't see the + New List button, email your library's reserves staff member.
  • A pop-up box will appear. Enter a title of the list and a brief description. Click the create button.
  • Select a template.
