Subject Librarian Toolkit

Description

Coordinate with the faculty and students of majors, schools and departments in liaison areas to select and acquire appropriate materials in the most usable formats for their use in teaching. learning, and research. Example collection development activities include: 

  • Keep up with new developments in the field of study and publishing;  apply new strategies for collection development 
  • Develop metrics to show how the collection supports current scholarship and curriculum in assigned areas
  • Perform collection maintenance through regular analysis and weeding of materials  
  • Work collaboratively with other liaison librarians to collect materials to support interdisciplinary research and teaching 
  • Have regular conversations with faculty about current research, perform citation analysis, and/or read faculty and student publications
