Law Library 101: Home

An introduction to the law library, designed to help new Vanderbilt students succeed in their use of the law library and to succeed in law school study.

Library Basics

Student ID:

Your student ID is your library card to check out books and to access the law school building. 

Do not leave your valuables unattended. Please report any problems to the Service Desk.

Books, Materials, and Equipment:

Need to know what you have checked out or renew your items? Login to My Account.

Can't find a book you are looking for? Submit a purchase request [login with VUNet ID], or use Interlibrary Loan.

Reserves:

To find print reserves at a campus library, search the Library catalog by instructor, course name or course number.

To find electronic reserves, use Brightspace.

Library Hours

The library is available to current law students, faculty, and staff during building hours. You may see the current library hours here.

 

Law Library Reference

Date Hours
Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday Closed

You can always contact the Reference team outside of desk hours, via email. We will respond to any inquiries within one business day. 

Cell Phone Use Policy

Please, no cell phone use or loud conversation. We hope to make the library a quiet zone for study and research.

Food Policy

Food and drink is allowed in the library, but please be mindful of any possible masking protocol. Check here for the most recent University requirements.

Printing

Students may send print jobs to the law library printers. For information about how to send a print job, check out the ITS website: https://law.vanderbilt.edu/about-the-school/information-technology/ and https://law.vanderbilt.edu/resources-for-students/student-printing.php

There is also a Lexis printer available, for law students to print materials from Lexis Advance.
