Vanderbilt Libraries' GIS Lab Services

Welcome to Vanderbilt University Libraries' GIS Lab LibGuide. This LibGuide provides resources for discovering and learning Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology, methods, and more. The GIS Lab supports the access to GIS software and geospatial data services across the Vanderbilt campus to students, faculty, and staff.

Location & Hours

  • Peabody Library, Room 304
  • Open to the Vanderbilt community during Peabody Library's operating hours.
    • Please note that if events or workshops are scheduled in the lab, it will be closed.

Hardware and Software

We have 13 Dell Optiplex SFF 7010 PCs available for use within the lab (login using your VUNETID and password). Computers are available on a first come, first serve basis. Except in the instance where GIS processing using more than 1 computer or overnight geoprocessing is needed, please email the GIS Lab to let us know how we can best support your request.

Software

The GIS Lab is the only location on campus with public access to GIS software and tools.

  • R / RStudio
  • VSCode
  • NVivo (on select machines)

Support
