Refer patrons to Library Administration (Pat Johnson) for help in obtaining a system-wide courtesy card. Staff at service desks should NOT alter or renew system-wide courtesy cards.
Some libraries, however, do have programs that offer courtesy access or borrowing in a single library (e.g. Div clergy). To obtain a card, use the Card Office Application. Send the patron to the Card Office with a completed form to obtain the card. If in your judgment the patron cannot go to the Card Office, you may mail or fax the application to the Card Office, with the instruction that the finished card be mailed to you via inter-office mail. Create a user record for the patron, following the profiles and procedures as outlined above. In order to create the Library Catalog record, you must have the card in hand. You will not know the number encoded on the magnetic stripe until the card is issued.
