Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law

Because the topics journal staff members will select for their student notes vary widely, it is not possible to cover all resources that students will ultimately utilize in their research in this guide.  Instead, this guide covers, more generally:

  • Resources to consult when selecting a topic,
  • Best practices for note beginning academic paper research, and organizing your research, and
  • basic strategies and resources for transnational legal research.

You may also wish to consult a guide created by another of our law librarians, Mariah Ford: Researching a Law School Seminar Paper or Law Review Note.  Prof. Ford's guide was drafted for students in one of her prior courses and while not oriented towards transnational legal research specifically, provides guidance and suggested resources that are useful for any academic law research.

Research Consultations

Students are encouraged to request an appointment to discuss their research strategy at any point during their note topic selection or research process.  Consultations can be conducted via Zoom, by phone, or, when we return to campus in August, in-person.  When requesting an appointment, please provide as much information as possible describing your process to-date (ex. sources you've already consulted).  You are also welcome to contact us via our reference email or chat service for assistance with more targeted research questions.
