Part 3: Use Chicago Manual of Style to format citations in Notes/Bibliography format to prepare for your paper.
Select 5 resources you intend to use for your Performance Critique assignment and format them in both Footnote and Bibliography format. Each source should have two entries. Example:
Footnote: Benjamin Lindquist, “The Art of Text-to-Speech,” Critical Inquiry 50, no. 2 (2023): 230, https://doi-org.proxy.library.vanderbilt.edu/10.1086/727651.
Bibliography: Lindquist, Benjamin. “The Art of Text-to-Speech.” Critical Inquiry 50, no. 2 (2023): 225–51. https://doi-org.proxy.library.vanderbilt.edu/10.1086/727651.
Finally answer the following question: Why is it important to cite your sources?
**Citation generators do exist in the databases and library catalogs, but you should always consult Chicago Manual of Style or your librarian to confirm that the entry is accurate. Generators aren't always accurate.
The Vanderbilt University Libraries subscribe to the Chicago Manual of Style Online.
The Citing Music Materials According to Chicago Research Guide provides specific examples of how to cite different music materials, including scores, recordings, and streaming media.
