Peabody Library Learning Commons
This room (Room 304 in the Peabody Library) has ArcGIS Desktop installed on multiple computers and is available to anyone on campus.
Spatial Analysis Research Lab
The Spatial Analysis Research Laboratory (SARL) is an advanced Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) facility intended for faculty, research staff, and advanced graduate students who are experienced GIS/RS users, with the purpose of providing high-powered workstations and mass-storage systems for analyzing large datasets and executing computationally intensive geospatial procedures.
The lab is located in Garland Hall room 10. It is directed by Professor Steve Wernke (Anthropology). Administration of the lab is managed by an ad hoc committee in the Department of Anthropology.Email SARL staff for more information.
Science and Engineering Library Map Room
The Map Room is located in room SC3210 in the Science and Engineering Library in the Stevenson Center. There are four workstations located in the Map Room that have ArcInfo 10 installed.

ANTH 280: Introduction to GIS
Professor Steve Wernke teaches ANTH 280: This course is designed to provide foundational competency in spatial research design, data acquisition methods, GIS data management and visualization, spatial analytical techniques, and cartographic and other modes of representation of results.

CE 259: Geographic Information Systems
This course is for students interested in learning the basics of geographic information systems (GIS). An overview of general principles and applications of GIS and spatial data management will be combined with hands-on use of a leading GIS software. The course combines lectures, presentations by GIS practitioners, and laboratory exercises that introduce students to fundamental skills in display, map design, and spatial analysis using GIS software.

Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences
The E&ES department has faculty and students who use GIS for teaching and research. It also maintains GIS software and resources in the departmental computer lab.
