Skills Development : O'Reilly for Higher Education


The Vanderbilt Libraries now provide access to O’Reilly for Higher Educationmultimedia collection of instructional materials focused on computer programming, technology, and business. The platform includes over 38,000 books, over 30,000 videos, and a large collection of case studies, audiobooks, and structured learning paths, as well as other exclusive content from O’Reilly’s global conferences.  

O’Reilly Media, best known for their technology books with covers featuring distinctive woodcuts of animalshas created a database with an expansive collection of books centering around the intersection of business and technology Readers can learn about programmingIT networkingproject managementgraphic design, and business strategy from more than 250 of the world’s most respected publishers, including Pearson, Packt, Wiley, and HarperCollins. 

The videos available include content from O’Reilly’s 16 global conferences and feature cutting-edge thinking from the world’s foremost technology and business leaders.  Particularly of note are the structured learning paths offering guided insights from experts in a broad assortment of topics including Python, Tableau, Amazon Web Services, and Linux distributions, from notable figures like Jessica McKellar, founder of; Jeff Immelt, former chairman and CEO of General Electric; and DJ Patil, former U.S. Chief Data Scientist. 


The extensive array of case studies provides a chance to understand how changing technology challenged companies like GoogleReddit, and Uber to adapt in areas like scaling, the cloud, and security.
