Eskind Library Student Training: Printers & Copiers

Computers and Laptops

  • Computer workstations are available for convenient access to the library’s digital resources. Eleven workstations are for Vanderbilt users and require a VUnet ID to log in.  Three public workstations are available for guests.
  • Laptops are available for check-out at the information desk, 3 MacBook Airs. They have a loan period of 3 days.
  • Headphones are available for use with library computers or laptops. 

Printers

The library printers are multi-purpose machines.  Both printers print, copy, and scan.  The printer on the left can also send faxes, but it does not receive faxes. If the patron is a patient or a patient family member and needs assistance with printing, copying, scanning, or faxing, please refer them to a library staff member.   

 Printing and Copying

  • Cost is $0.06 per page for black and white; $0.25 per page for color.
  • A Commodore Card or a guest print card are needed for printing or copying. VU users can add money to their Commodore Card at Card Services. Guest printing cards are available for purchase for all other users.  The guest card vending machine is located on the first floor of the library and is a cash only machine.  The cost of the print card is $1 and printing money can be added to the card using $1, $5, $10, and $20 bills.  The machine does not give change or refunds.
  • For convenience, personal computers can install a VUprint driver.

Scanning:

  • A Commodore Card or guest print card is required for scanning; however there is no charge.  Available options include scan-to-email and scan-to-flash-drive.

Faxing:

  • A Commodore Card or a guest print card is required to send faxes; however, there is no charge for this service.  
  • Faxes can be sent to local fax numbers including the Vanderbilt campus, 1-800 numbers, and all other numbers that are not long distance.
  • If a patron requests faxing to a long distance number, please refer them to a library staff member.

WiFi

  • VUNET   is for University Faculty/Staff/Students (including VUMC)
  • VUMMIV is for non-affiliated individuals.  This name is not broadcast as an available wifi, so you will have to type vummiv to connect.
