The Library and You: How to Make the Most Out of Your Vanderbilt Experience: Your Library Account

Don't Leave Home Without It!

Your Vanderbilt University ID card is also your library card at Vanderbilt. Use it to check out materials from the library.

 

Your Library Account Privileges

Access to All Nine Campus Libraries:

As a Vanderbilt student you can use all nine of our campus libraries and, with the exception of Special Collections, borrow materials from any of them.

Borrowing Library Materials:

Use your Vanderbilt ID to check out books, CDs, and DVDs. Our loan policies for all library materials are available here.

Renew Materials Online:

Use your library account to renew books, check due dates and more online using your VUnet ID and password. See the box below for further details.

Off-campus Access to Library Research Databases:

The library's research databases can travel with you wherever you go. To access the databases from off-campus, just login with your VUnet ID and password. 

 

Library Lingo

Circulation Desk
The area where you can check out, return, or renew library materials.
database
A comprehensive collection of related data (articles or other materials) organized for convenient access, usually through a computer.
Reference (or Service) Desk
The place in the library where reference librarians and assistants give you directions, answer your questions, and show you how to find and use library materials. The desk is usually located near reference materials.
