What is InterLibrary Loan?

  • free service to request materials not available at Vanderbilt libraries, including books and journal articles

How long does it take?

  • in general, articles are delivered electronically and typically arrive within a week
  • single chapters should arrive via email in a few days 
  • print requests may take 2-3 weeks

How do I submit a request?

  • Go to the library website and search for the item you want to request.
  • If the item is not in the catalog, select Resource Request from the navigation bar.
  • If you are not logged in to your library account, you will then be prompted to log in.
  • Fill out the request form with the item's information.
  • At the bottom of the Request form, select your preferred pickup location. For delivery to your department (Faculty Delivery), select Work Address.
  • Click Send Request to complete the form.
