Circulation and loan policies for books, DVDs, etc.: Information about loan periods, fines, etc., can be found at Circulation and Loan Policies.
Circulating laptops: The library has laptops that you can borrow. For information about checking them out, overdue fines, etc., see Policies and FAQ for Circulating Laptops.
Circulating iPads: The library also has iPads that you can borrow. Learn more at the iPad research guide.
Renewing items: See Circulation and Loan Policies for number of renewals allowed for type of item and borrower category. If you have more than 25 items overdue, you will not be able to renew online, so renew materials before they become overdue. To renew online, login to Library Catalog (http://Library Catalog.library.vanderbilt.edu) using the “Account Login” link.
Recalls: Any patron may recall an item checked out by another patron. The patron who has the item must return it within seven days of the recall. If the patron has had the book less than two weeks, the recall will be placed on the fourteenth day from the original checkout. Recall fines are $1.00 per day with no grace period.
Returning items to the library: Regular items may be returned to any library or book drop on campus, but books are not considered "returned" until they are discharged in the Divinity Library. Returning books to locations other than the Divinity Library may result in a three to four day delay before they are available for other persons to check out.
Items not returned: Replacement of items not returned by patrons is charged by a formula: cost of book + cataloging fee ($35) + (non-refundable) billing fee ($25). To avoid such costs, renew your materials promptly or return them to the library.
