Reserves and Media Services/Government Information: Video Materials

DVD Collection

Most of the collection's videos are in closed stacks, meaning that someone has to retrieve them for you from behind the service desk. We do not allow free-range browsing of the entire collection because of the cost of replacing lost or stolen material. There is a Leisure Viewing Collection located in the seating area immediately to your right as you get off the elevators from the second floor (or to your left if you are walking toward the GIMS service desk from the lobby). These are popular videos, many of them recent, that have been selected for you to freely browse and choose from.

To search for a video, use the DVD/Video Search in the Library Catalog catalog. The link for this search is located to the right of the Basic Search box. This search will limit the results to items that are videos across the library system. You can further limit your search by library, for instance, if you only want to see videos that are available in Central Library. Use the library dropdown menu below the basic search box to do this.

Loan Periods for Videos

Videos (including DVDs, VCDs, and videotapes) circulate to Vanderbilt faculty, students, staff, and alumni. There is no limit on the number of videos that you can borrow at one time.

The loan period for videos is 14 days per item.

Two renewals are allowed per item (unless the item is recalled, in which case no renewals are allowed). For your convenience, items can be renewed online if you sign into your Library Catalog account using your VUNet ID.
