Generative AI Tools at VU
Current members of the Vanderbilt University community (students, faculty & staff) have access to select generative AI tools and products including:
- Vanderbilt AI (Amplify)Click on the login button and use your SSO credentials to access.
Once in the Vanderbilt.AI (Amplify) platform, you can adjust the model you would like to use by choosing from the drop down menu, as seen below. Options shown may change over time.
- Microsoft Copilot
Microsoft Copilot is a generative AI chatbot developed by Microsoft. Currently, it is accessible to the Vanderbilt University community in the following ways:
- Users utilizing Windows 10 version 19041.0 or higher can navigate to the Microsoft Copilot app within the Microsoft store and download (free.)
- To upgrade to Windows 11, please contact VUIT to request that software update to your machine's Software Center.
- Microsoft 365 Copilot is available by logging in with your VU credentials at https://copilot.microsoft.com/
- Constellate This link opens in a new windowConstellate Pedagogy: a platform for learning and performing text analysis. It allows users to build datasets from collections and analyze and visualize text data. Users can build datasets across multiple content sources from over 12 million articles and primary sources from major collections in JSTOR, Portico, Chronicling America, DocSouth, and RevealDigital. Users have access to the full roster of live classes to learn about programming in Python, text analysis, and the Constellate platform.

It offers a quantitative and qualitative insight into how scientific publications cite each other.
Additional Generative AI tools
Generative AI tools continue to proliferate and evolve. The list below includes both fee-based and free GenAI platforms. Many operate on a "freemium" model, where basic access is free and more complex features are available for a fee.
- ChatGPTDeveloped by OpenAI. Defaults to 3.5 (free) but newer, more robust models are available by logging in and/or paying a fee.
- Google Gemini (formerly Bard)Available by logging into a Google account.
