Vanderbilt’s Agreements Supporting Open Access Publishing

As the scholarly publishing landscape has grown more complex with the advent of new publishing models, the Jean & Alexander Heard Libraries has negotiated transformative (read-and-publish) agreements with several publishers to better support faculty, staf

SCOAP3

Sponsoring Consortium for Open Access Publishing in Particle Physics (SCOAP3) is a partnership between libraries, funding agencies, and research centers. This consortium has worked to convert high energy physics journals to open access.

  • Vanderbilt's membership supports article processing charges (APCs) for open access publishing in all SCOAP3 journals.
  • Authors retain copyright of their work through Creative Commons licenses.
  • SCOAP3 covers the APC for all articles published in the following journals:
    • The European Physical Journal C (EPJC)
    • The Journal of High Energy Physics (JHEP)
    • Nuclear Physics B (NPB)
    • Physics Letters B (PLB)
  • SCOAP3 covers the APC for only high energy physics articles published in the following journals:
    • Acta Physica Polonica B (APPB)
    • Advances in High Energy Physics (AHEP)
    • Chinese Physics C (CPC)
    • Physical Review C (PRC)
    • Physical Review D (PRD)
    • Physical Review Letters (PRL)
    • Progress of Theoretical and Experimental Physics (PTEP)

Instructions for Authors

How does it work?

  • SCOAP3 journals are open for any scientist to publish in without APCs.
  • Each journal has specific author guidelines, which are available at SCOAP3 Journals.
