DOT/SOC

Dictionary of Occupational Titles has been superseded by the Standard Occupational Classification Manual (SOC)

The SOC now supersedes the Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT). See also O*NET Online: Occupational Information Network, which is another version of the Standard Occupational Classification Manual (SOC) that allows the user to match SOC and DOT occupational classification systems.

@ the Libraries

Use Library Catalog, the catalog for the libraries at Vanderbilt to identify books and other resources. Start with keywords:  try a keyword search using the name of your major and the words career or job.  (Example: communication and job or career)

You can also use subject headings; here are some examples to try:

  • Applications for positions
  • Employment Interviewing
  • Job Descriptions
  • Job Hunting
  • Job Vacancies
  • Occupations
  • Resumes
  • Vocational Guidance

You will find career resources in many of our libraries, including the Central Library, Management Library, and some right here at the Peabody Library.
