Evaluating Sources

An important step in evaluating a resource is determining if it is considered scholarly.  This distinction will need to be made for books, as well as articles. 

 

BEAM is an acronym intended to help students think about the various ways we might use sources when writing a researched argument. Joseph Bizup, an English professor at Boston University, first published this idea in 2008.
