Open Education Resources (OER): K-12 Curriculum: Introduction

Introduction

Open Education Resources (OER) are taking root in K-12 education. With the high cost of textbooks and teacher access to real time information, online materials for curricular use are moving into mainstream conversations in schools.Traditional curriculum materials are copyrighted and have restricted use. OER are teaching and learning materials that are freely available online for everyone to use. OER authors retain few ownership rights and materials are revisable and can be redistributed at no cost.
