The Library is here to connect you to online resources!
Knowing where to start isn't always easy, especially when you're dealing with an unfamiliar subject. Sometimes the best place to start is a subject specific dictionary or encyclopedia. Below is a selected list of online reference resources
Encyclopedias written about specific topics are a great place to search for scholarly writing!
Search the Library Catalog (click "VU Collections to get encyclopedias we have access to), and search for the word 'encyclopedia" AND whatever your topic is to see what we might have!
When the Library Doesn't Have What I Need
Don't panic! Even though the library might not have the specific item* that you need for an assignment, we can get it for you using a service called interlibrary loan or ILL.
What Do I Need for an ILL Request?
All you need is your VUnet ID and password, and the citation information for the resource you are requesting. Just click on the link below and login to the library's Interlibrary Loan Service.
Need help? Ask a librarian!
*Please note that ILL will not be able to mail books directly to you. During this time of online education, ILL will supply PDFs of articles and scanned chapters from print books..
