Submit a Purchase Suggestion:

The library is always happy to purchase books and other items upon request to fulfill research needs.

**Large ticket items will be purchased at the discretion of the subject librarian and may require consultation with the department.

For books with no ebook copy available try Document Delivery!

Login to the Library Catalog with your VUnet ID and password.

In the Location Items section of the catalog record, you should see a link to Faculty Delivery (for entire book) or Request chapter / article scan. This will link you out to our interlibrary loan page ( you may need to login again) to submit your delivery or scanning request.  Our interlibrary loan staff will provide the requested content.

Document Delivery also works for journal articles that are only available in print.

**When submitting chapter scanning requests, please specify chapters/ pages needed.  If needed, ILL staff will supply you with a Table of Contents upon request.

Faculty Interlibrary Loan request - book delivery or chapter/article scan

All you need is your VUnet ID and password, and the citation information for the resource you are requesting. Just click on the link below and login to the library's Interlibrary Loan Service.

  • You can request print books, scores, book chapters, journal articles, etc. The quickest response may be for items that can be delivered as PDFs.
    • If you are working remotely, ILL cannot mail print books to you. You must be in the Nashville are to retrieve physical interlibrary loan requests.
  • When submitting requests for multiple chapters from the same book, please submit the request for each chapter individually.
    • If you request more than one chapter in a single request, ILL staff will have to split your request into individual chapters delaying processing of your request.
    • Splitting your multi-chapter request into individual requests allows multiple libraries to respond to the request.
    • ILL will happily supply you with a Table of Contents for books if needed.

Search the catalog to see if we have access to a film/video. We have a number of databases that include various films (such as the Disability in the Modern World database that includes videos and cable tv show episodes). As often as possible, these individual listings are made available in the catalog. Additionally, streaming video and DVD titles are shown.

Consider limiting the material type to Video/Film.

DVDs

If you find a DVD you'd like to watch, go to the library to check it out. The Central Library also has portable DVD players that may be checked out by students, faculty or staff.

You or your faculty proxy can place DVDs on reserve for a course, and students can watch them in the library.

Streaming Film

The library provides access to several streaming film databases. If you see a film that you'd like to make available through streaming, you can make a request for the film using the purchase suggestion form or if the film is available through Kanopy, you may be able to make a direct request in Kanopy

Either way, please ask for what you need for your courses and research. We try our best to provide them.
