Useful Training Resources

These sites offer step-by-step tutorials in HTML and CSS. If you want to get fluent in HTML, any of these will be a good place to start.

  • W3Schools
This is a great set of tutorials. One of the most unique things about this site is the Try It Yourself feature, where you can make changes to an example of HTML and see instantly what effect those changes have.
  • HTML Dog
  • HTML Tutorial For Beginners

Setting Up Your Own Web Site

Vanderbilt ITS will help you set up a Web site for an organization or department, or a blog for individuals

Google Sites is an easy way to get started, and have a space to experiment

These sites offer to host free Web sites for teachers, but I have not used these and cannot vouch for how easy or reliable they are.

TeacherWeb (I found this because some of the Meigs Middle School teachers use it)

TeacherPage

iTeach.org

And this is an instructive bad example: TeacherWebSite.com (state of the art, 1994)

It can also be helpful to look at schools' Web sites, to see what other teachers are doing

It looks like most of the MNP schools are running on the same server and templates.

Suggest other teachers' or schools' pages that I could list here.
