The following databases will aid in your research of the company and it's related specialized industry which is necessary prior to performing financial statement research. Do not forget to read the AICPA Industry Guides on Checkpoint.
Database: Hoover's (formerly OneSource)
Hoover's 
Contains company profiles, analyst reports, SWOTs, and market research reports under the NAICS code link..
- Search by Company Name
- Once on the results page, click on the link for your correct company
- Use the left hand menu to select specfic pieces of information on that company.
Example of SWOT analysis from Hoover's:
CRUSH Reports are available for Fortune 1000 companies and focus on IT architectures, business and technology initiatives, organizational charts, corporate strategies, budgets, and key decision maker contact information. You can access a CRUSH report from the left hand menu of a company overview page.
Database: First Research (Intellect)
First Step: First Research (Intellect) contains:
- Industry Overview
- Industry Forecast
- Critical Issues within the industry
- Business Challenges
- Business Trends
- Industry Opportunities
- Call Prep Sheets with conversation starters
- Executive insights and talking points by C-Suite position.
- Websites which highlight industry experts (usually Associations and Government Agencies.)
Once in First Research, simply search for your company name or the NAICS code for its industry and then open the report. The report contents are listed on the LEFTSIDE of the page.
