Establishing Teaching Partnerships
1) Meet your library subject liaison(s). Every VU academic department has a designated liaison librarian. Contact your liaison librarian to discuss specialized resources to improve student research skills and critical thinking.
2) Determine if there is a research guide for your department and/or course. Don't see a guide for your course? Contact your liaison librarian to create a new one!
3) Schedule a library instruction session for your students. Liaison librarians are happy to consult with faculty about assignments or projects. Librarians work with faculty to tailor sessions that include resources and research techniques targeted to course learning outcomes and assignments. These sessions can be held in a library classroom or in your regular classroom.
4) Add a Subject Librarian to Brightspace. Embedding a Subject Librarian in your Brightspace course provides consistent and personalized assistance for your students. Including a librarian in Brightspace also extends students' access to research assistance after a library instruction session.
