Access and Borrowing: Fines and Lost Items

Only the following items have overdue fines:

  • Laptops: $10 per day
  • Recalled items: $1 per day
  • Course reserves and equipment fines vary.  Reserve fines are typically 60¢ per hour.

Severely overdue items are billed to your account after three courtesy overdue notices.  Users are responsible for returning library items regardless of whether courtesy notices are misdelivered (update your contact information here) or read.  The amounts billed will be the replacement cost of the item or a flat fee of $75, and a non-refundable billing fee of $25.

Damaged items or items returned in an incomplete state will be billed for the replacement cost of the item or a flat fee of $75, and a non-refundable billing fee of $25.

Lost items: If you lose an item, consult library staff. You may be able to purchase a new copy and have fees waived.  Severely overdue items will be automatically billed.

Student fines and bills are transferred weekly to Student Accounts.

Borrowing privileges are suspended for non-student fines and bills exceeding $100.
